Quiet May Farm was founded in 2009 by Meghan Cavallo with the assistance and generosity of friends, family, and Meg's mentor, the late Mary Perkins.

Meghan Cavallo, Owner and Head Trainer

Meg began riding and showing stock horses at a very young age.  After several years and multiple regional and national youth titles in Leadline, Showmanship, Trail, and Western Pleasure, Meg wanted to try something new.

She turned her attention to the more fast paced world of the Open Hunter Circuit.  With the agreement that she would continue to campaign her family's sale horses at the bigger stock horse shows, Meg was allowed to lease a little Thoroughbred hunter mare named Satin Doll and began training at Buffalo's Broadway Farm under the tutelage of renowned Hunter Trainer Laine Montgomery.

Meg struggled to maintain her schoolwork and heavy training and showing schedule alternating her weekends between Pleasure and Hunter shows.  Two years later, Meg qualified for the prestigious regional hunter invitationals and her parents realized begrudgingly that this wasn't just a 'phase.' The following spring they purchased her a seasoned hunter and gave her the reins so to speak.

Thoroughbred gelding Tuesday Afternoon took Meg all the way to a win at the famed Regency National Junior Huntseat Medal championship in her last eligible year.

Meg continued to show hunters on the Intercollegiate circuit while pursuing a B.S. in Equine Business Management.

Since graduating, Meg has continued to train and show both pleasure horses and huntseat horses and riders and has completed Trainer Certifications for both disciplines.

In 2020 with an eye on the future, Meghan has transitioned Quiet May Farm to a full Hunter/Jumper show barn.

Janet Ricci, Manager

Janet has been handling all aspects of the care and management of our clients and their horses since 2013. With an MBA from the University of Buffalo, Janet spent years working in the corporate world before deciding to return to her equestrian roots.

Janet comes from a long line of equestrians, her great grandfather trained horses for the US Calvary in Tennessee which inspired an interest in Dressage and Equitation. Janet's grandmother ran a small Thoroughbred breeding farm which Janet's mother took over when Janet was a teenager.

Janet has used these decades of combined experience along with her business acumen to effectively build the well oiled machine of a successful Hunter/Jumper show barn.

Jilane Ricci, Assistant Trainer

Jilane has been riding under Meghan's tutelage since 2010. She currently handles our young riders program helping the youngsters on the Quiet May Team build a solid riding foundation along with the confidence they need to take their talent farther.

Jilane had a successful junior career in the Large Junior Hunters with her partner Capricious, collecting a multitude of Champs and Reserves along the way.

After graduation, she began pursuing Equine Studies at the Houghton College. Capricious continued packing juniors in the Hunter rings and Jilane brought up a new hunter mount, Sherlock Holmes who after a successful year in the Performance Hunter ring will be moving on with another rider while Jilane looks for her next superstar.
